Our union
WE AREA UNION.
We are not a crew and we are not a label. We are a coalition that acts as a union for working DJs, started by national programmer and mixshow DJ Tony Neal in November 2005 and billed on our own masthead as the world's largest and most influential DJ organization.
Twenty one years later the machine still runs weekly: our mixshow on SiriusXM, a Top 30 we ship every week, a members portal counting 600 plus of us, and a new member welcomed on our account almost every week of August 2026.

Tony Neal
A national programmer and mixshow DJ. Milwaukee raised, Miami based, and holding keys to three cities: Myrtle Beach, Dallas and Milwaukee. He put us together in November 2005 and he still runs us.

- 2005We startTony Neal starts us in November 2005, and our Core Retreat tradition starts in Chicago the same year. Our own About copy carries both dates.
- 2005Core DJ Radio signs onOur radio arm starts the same year, later billed the longest running mixshow on Sirius XM, syndicated across more than 60 stations and mixshows.
- 2007Billboard walks our retreatBillboard runs a Core DJ Retreat VI wrap up in March 2007: national trade press walking our three day retreat in South Florida, label listening sessions and all, barely two years after we started. The piece is still up and still open to read.
- 2016Retreat XXVI, HoustonDestination Houston, November 3 to 7: five days back in Texas after a decade, with our membership billed at over 500 of the nation's most influential DJs.
- 2024Retreat 37, AtlantaOur 19th year anniversary at the Courtland Grand Hotel, November 15 to 18. Thirty seven editions in, we still fill the room.
- 2025Retreat 38, our 20th yearThe Core DJ's Worldwide 20th Year Anniversary, Atlanta, September 2025. Two decades of the same twice a year tradition, registration run on our own Eventbrite.
- 2026Retreat 39, CincinnatiJune 19 to 22 in Cincinnati, carried on our own site and by the host hotel. We do not skip a year.
- 2026Core 40 announcedOur 40th Core Conference lands in Houston, November 12 to 16, announced by our founder with registration opening in August. Forty editions, twenty one years, still moving.

Our signal
Core DJ Radio rides SiriusXM Shade 45 in the mix on Friday nights, and we announce the featured member DJ on our account each week. Between shows, the list our whole network plays from ships on Spotify.

Our story
Twenty one years at the core of the record business.
We started in November 2005 as Tony Neal's answer to a scattered industry: put the nation's mixshow and club DJs in one coalition, give it a radio arm, and make the whole thing meet in person twice a year. Billboard was writing our retreat up by edition six.
What grew out of it works like a union hall. Our members get the network, the airwaves and the room; labels get the one door that opens every market at once. Our own portal reads 600 plus members, and we welcomed five new DJs in August 2026 alone.
Thirty nine conferences in, we take the tradition home to Houston this November for our fortieth. Our mixshow list still ships every week. Our signal has not gone off air since 2005.
